I met my son, he travelled from Manchester, I travelled from the South Coast, taking my 6 month old puppy. We stayed for one night and booked breakfast for Sunday morning. The twin room we were allocated was plenty big enough for us and had everything we needed. It also had doors onto a patio area which was ideal for the dog. We ate in the restaurant on the Saturday evening. The food was lovely. It was quite busy and maybe there could have been a couple more staff serving but the wait time was not excessive and not an issue for us at all. Dogs are allowed in the bar area and initially we tried to sit there with the dog but he would not settle so I returned him to the room and settled him there in his crate before returning to eat in the restaurant. We also did this on Sunday morning for breakfast, which was very nice and had everything you could need. The grounds are beautiful and ideal for walking in, I met numerous "locals" whilst out, walking their dogs in the area. We were blessed with very sunny, if cold, weather. We did not use the leisure facilities but my son did check them out and was more than happy with what he saw. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.

The staff are really friendly and helpful, check-in easy and the room was really incredible in the old house. For the price I paid (£88) I could not have expected such a huge and comfy room with everything you need from tea and coffee making facilities, fan, iron and ironing board, mini fridge, soap and moisturizer, nice towels, good bedding and excellent super king bed (two singles actually but together as a super king). The bed had a topper too for added luxury and I'm bed-fussy but had a brilliant night's sleep. The grounds are incredible and perfect for dog walking. We never heard a sound from other guests all night which was probably due to the wonderful old building. It's very well maintained and the room was lovely and warm. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel so I can't comment on the food.

The hotel is perfectly situated with a massive space to walk and explore the estate, away from busy city life. I booked 3 rooms and we managed to get all of them in the Walton Hall building with ancient vibes and beauty. My room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated. The bed was comfortable and massive. I especially loved the large windows that offered a gorgeous view of the skyline. The bathroom was large with heated flooring. We did not have dinner at the hotel, but their breakfast was exceptional. The leisure center was really good. We enjoyed a relaxing swim in the heated indoor pool, followed by some time in the sauna and steam room. Not forgetting the staff (Hi Chris), all the staff we encountered were really helpful. This was a five-star experience in every way.

Hotel was spotlessly clean. The grounds are lovely to walk around. There was plenty of parking. Breakfast was brilliant. Food was hot and a great selection from full English breakfast, to continental, yogurts and juices. Special mention for BRUNO. I was originally allocated room 42 which didn't work out very well as there were a number of issues with it and the location. I spoke to Bruno at Reception the following morning and he swiftly moved me to 217, a free upgrade to a Privilege room. I had a great night's sleep once moved and thanked him for his help.

The setting was perfect. The hotel appeared to be run down in general. Windows long overdue being replaced, one window didn't shut securely, wooden frame warped with age. Fire doors in all corridors left open! Major fire risk. Staff in the bar didn't apoear to know what they were doing. The best bit was the bed, this alone was worth the price. Reception staff were brilliant. Room service and cleaning staff were faultless. Regular tv channels were inaccessible in the room so tv viewing was limited in my room.
